Why don't you make it a glass block/pane instead of a trap door or slab? You'd still be able to see them and they'd still fall out with the piston?

Preeeeetty sure its the trapdoor placement.. If you're facing the wall, the trapdoor is open to the cats when its open or closed, whereas if you are facing the cat chambers the trapdoor closing locks them in..

Tango... could you not use a glass block where you put the slabs? They wouldn’t ubstruct your view, and it would keep the cats in place, without messing with the pistons. Would that work?

Maybe use end rods to clean up the cat farm. They worked to help me rework my wither rose farm to make a baby chicken sorter because they have a good hit box and are still see through even for mob Agro and obviously would fit the aesthetic better

I think the problem with the trap doors is mobs also move around even if they are only on one block the cat probably was moving on around and since it fit it just went through no matter what the ai said was possible or not

how about glass panes instead of the top slabs in the cat selector? I mean it'd block visibility less, even if rightclicking a cat might prove more difficult. Or simply open oak trapdoors instead of closed ones, that way you could block them in, and they'd still be visible through the 4 holes on the oak trapdoor.

Instead of a half-slab, why not use a glass block or glass pane? See-through and it prevents the cat from falling out!

To replace those slabs that you didn't like in the cat farm, here's a couple possible solutions that I've seen while browsing the comments (I didn't come up with any of them on my own, too lazy for that right now.) I just wanted to gather them up a little to make them easier to find. 1. Chains: Keeps the cat trapped - Allows better visibility - You can tame it before releasing it from the box 2. Glass: Keeps the cat trapped - Allows best visibility - You can NOT tame it before release 3. closed trapdoors - Keeps the cat trapped - Decent visibility - You can NOT tame before release

Couldn't you just use glass to block the cats from getting out but so you can still see them? OptiFine connected textures should make it so the cats are still very easy to see, unless I am forgetting something.

The population for cats is 1 per 4 valid/occupied beds The reason why the cat despawned in your episode is because it was still part of the village cat population meaning at the next 60 seconds a new cat couldn’t spawn Cats can also despawn if when they become an adult and aren’t fed 3 or 4 layers of snow or a daylight sensor combined with a trap for should block the cat from walking out seeing cats have a hit box size 0.5

Hi Tango, I have a potential solution for your cat-astrophe. Instead of placing slabs in front of the cats which obscures the view quite a lot, why not just put glass blocks or panes all the way along? The cats won't be able to walk through the glass and the player (A.K.A GoodTimesWithScar) will still have a great view of what type of cat is in each cubicle.
